The company was incorporated on 29th September 1960 as a Private Limited Liability Company. It was converted to a Public Limited Liability Company in November 1978. The shares are currently quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The principal activities of the group is primarily engaged in flour milling; cement manufacturing; pasta production; importation, blending, distribution and sale of fertilizer; manufacturing and marketing of laminated woven polupropylene sacks and flexible packaging materials; operation of terminals A and B at the Apapa Port; customs clearing and forwarding agents and shipping agents; logistics; production of livestock feeds, farming and other agro-allied activities; and management of the mills of Maiduguri Flour Mills Limited and Port Harcourt Flour Mills Limited.
